Manuscript Formatting

I offer a limited service to help you prepare your manuscript for either ePublishing or for print on demand publishing. Please note that an administration fee of $15.00 applies to all jobs in addition to the per-thousand-word rate. Please note also that if someone asks me to format a manuscript I assume that it is ready for formatting. I take no responsibility for the actual content, but only for the format and presentation of that content.

Kindle

For a rate of just $2.35 per thousand words, I will prepare an MS Word file which will convert into a cleanly formatted .mobi (Kindle) file when uploaded directly to Amazon KDP for sale at Amazon sites. Without careful formatting of the Word file, there can sometimes be problems with the formatting of the resultant Kindle file. Many eBooks you download from Amazon will have some formatting problems. I will ensure that your Kindle book is presented cleanly and professionally. Please note that this does not include proofreading of your manuscript, which you must carry out yourself, or purchase as a separate service. The service also does not include preparation of a cover file, which must be uploaded separately.

Epub

For a rate of $2.82 per thousand words, I will prepare an epub file. It is a more involved task trying to create a file that will perform well on a diverse range of devices and apps.

Print on Demand

For a rate of $4.70 per thousand words, I will prepare an MS Word and PDF file which you can upload to Amazon KDP, IngramSpark or another platform for publication as a print on demand, paperback version of your manuscript. I will ensure a clean and professional presentation. Please note that this does not include proofreading of your manuscript, which you must carry out yourself, or purchase as a separate service. The service also does not include preparation of a cover file, which must be uploaded separately.

Additional Services

Please note that additional costs will be incurred if images are included in the interior of the manuscript. Images will be charged at a rate of $2.00 per image. It is essential that authors create, maintain and operate their own appropriate accounts for print on demand and ebook publishing. Please also note that if I have to upload files for the author, I will require the author’s password to access those accounts. It is the author’s responsibility to change those passwords immediately upon completion of the service.
